The Department of Chemistry is looking to support individuals of outstanding merit and potential who might wish to apply for one of the following research fellowships to be held in the Department from October 2012:
Royal Society University Research Fellowship
EPSRC Career Acceleration Fellowship
BBSRC David Philips Fellowship
NERC Advanced Research Fellowship
Wellcome Trust Career Development Fellowship
All potential applicants must submit an expression of interest to Dr Howard Jones (hrnj1@cam.ac.uk) by May 31st 2011. The EoI should include a cover letter, indicating which of the Department's five research themes best encompasses their research field (see /research.html), a CV, publications list, and a one page research statement summarising research plans and resource requirements. Applicants must also arrange for a letter of support from a member of the Department's academic staff to be sent independently by the same date. Late applications will not be considered.
We intend to draw up a short-list of around ten applicants covering all fellowship schemes by the end of June 2011. Those short-listed will be invited to visit the Department on July 20th to give a research seminar and meet members of academic staff. Applicants will be advised shortly after whether their application will be supported by the Department, and to which fellowship scheme they can apply.
Much of this procedure will necessarily take place before calls for proposals have been announced by sponsors, but the timescale is determined by the likelihood of the earliest submission dates being in August and the need to give applicants enough time to prepare their applications and receive feedback.
