Isotope 260 was reported in 1964 by a group of scientists at Dubna, near Moscow, Russia but the claim was disputed in 1969 by a group of scientists led by A. Ghiorso at Berkeley, California, USA who reported isotope 257. IUPAC concluded in 1992 that credit for the discovery should be shared between both groups.
